Planetary science advances through exploration—and Edinburgh plays a key role in designing, developing, and enabling that exploration. Our mission science spans instrument development, clean-room engineering, data analysis, remote sensing, and conceptual design for future missions. Working closely with the UK Astronomy Technology Centre and industrial partners, we contribute to missions targeting comets, asteroids, planetary atmospheres, and distant worlds. We also shape future capabilities, including emerging sample-receiving and analysis facilities, advancing the technologies that will define the next era of planetary exploration.
